Guiding sessions can take the form of a whole day (typically up to 8 hours fishing time) or half days (either morning, afternoon or evening/night). Depending on the species you want to target, and the time of year or season, I'll recommend which is the best to give you the best chance of catching. The species links (above left) give some basic information on seasons and sessions.
Tackle and lures can be provided, or you can use your own. Some locations, particularly the sea ones, require a longish walk or some steep slopes with, sometimes, a bit of a clamber to gain access. You'll need to be reasonably fit and healthy. Alternatively, let me know your limitations and I'll choose easier access marks to fish from. For sea fishing, I recommend that you wear waders (thigh, waist or chest) although a good stout pair of walking boots and waterproofs will suffice. For freshwater, again waders can be worn but a good pair of wellies and waterproofs are OK too.
For whole day sessions, I can provide a light lunch for a small extra charge or you can bring your own. Fish care and handling. Not only will you learn how to catch your target species, you'll also be given instruction in how to land, handle and release it. Catch and release is practised on my guides, but one fish of the appropriate size can be taken for the pot, when legal to do so. For those multi-day trips or early starts (dawn raids) or late finishes (night sessions), accommodation can be provided together with meals if required. See the ACCOMODATION page for more info.
It's not possible to guarantee that you will catch your desired species during the session (it's rare not to) but, as a minimum, you will learn how to approach your quarry so that you can guide yourself on future attempts. Once you've learned what to look for and how to go about it, you're more than halfway there! I have considerable experience of ultralight lure angling as well as conventional and if you'd like to learn more about this exciting and skilful technique, let me know and we'll include it in your session when appropriate. Hi, I'm Adrian Jacobs and I offer lure angling guiding services for the main salt- and freshwater predatory species. I have over 35 years’ experience of angling in the Wessex area and for the past 10 years I have concentrated solely on lure angling both in saltwater and fresh, from the shore and bank. I have caught many specimen fish and have learnt how, where, when & why, and I can now share that knowledge with you over the course of a guided fishing session.
